An unusual cottage this in that the 18th C original house has been extended in the 19th C and given an Arts & Crafts makeover in the early 20th C - at around the time it became associated with the then future president of the USA Woodrow Wilson and his friend the artist Fred Yates (I am currently working on an extension to the house nearby built for Fred Yates by local landowner Squire Le Fleming)

The cottage had no serious problems other than the usual damp chimney stacks common to nearly every older Lake District property but was badly in need of an upgrade. Listed Building Consent was obtained to add a few modern facilities without detracting from the character of the property and many repairs and renovations of the structure and fabric were carried out by the owners in close cooperation with the contractor.
